Yunah grew up in Chungju in North Chungcheong Province and was scouted through her middle-school theatre club before spending five years as a trainee. She was one of the four members the label picked in the R U Next? finale, and she is the group's oldest member. She has co-writing credits on several Illit tracks and appeared as a featured artist on Kylie Cantrall's 2025 single “See U Tonight”.
