I-dle (아이들, styled in lower case as i-dle) is a girl group formed in Seoul by Cube Entertainment and made up of Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi and Shuhua — South Korean, Thai, Chinese and Taiwanese between them. Cube revealed the group's name on 5 April 2018 and introduced the line-up through a street dance performance in Hongdae filmed for Dingo Music, then launched it on 2 May 2018 with the EP I Am and its lead single “Latata”. Soyeon, who had placed 20th on Produce 101 and finished second runner-up on Unpretty Rapstar 3 before releasing two solo singles, was named leader and took over the writing; she has since composed or co-written nearly every lead single. The group won its first music-show trophy on SBS MTV's The Show on 22 May 2018, twenty days after debuting, and collected best-new-artist prizes at that year's Melon Music Awards, Genie Music Awards, Asia Artist Awards and Korea Popular Music Awards, with the Golden Disc and Gaon Chart rookie awards following in January 2019. A sixth member, Soojin, paused her activities in March 2021 and left the group on 14 August 2021; it has promoted as a quintet ever since.

The turning point came with “Tomboy”, the lead single of the first studio album I Never Die in March 2022, which topped the Circle Digital Chart and scored a perfect all-kill. “Nxde”, from the EP I Love that October, did the same, making (G)I-dle the only act with two perfect all-kills that year and the first act from an independent label to chart on the US Pop Airplay chart with a non-English song. “Queencard” gave them a third consecutive number one in May 2023, and its parent EP I Feel sold two million copies worldwide to rank as the IFPI's 14th best-selling album of the year. The second studio album 2 (January 2024) and the seventh EP I Sway (July 2024) each passed a million copies sold in South Korea; the album track “Fate” climbed the charts weeks after release on the back of TikTok and became a fourth straight perfect all-kill. Alongside the Korean records came three Japanese EPs, an English-language EP made with 88rising (Heat, 2023) and, through Soyeon and Miyeon, several songs for Riot Games' virtual group K/DA.
On 2 May 2025, their seventh debut anniversary and five months after all five members renewed with Cube, the group dropped the “(G)” and became I-dle. The special EP We Are I-dle, nine of their own singles re-recorded as a five-piece, arrived the same day, and the eighth Korean EP We Are followed on 19 May — the first release on which every member holds a writing or composing credit. The group took the grand prize at the 34th Seoul Music Awards in June 2025 and Record of the Year at the Asia Star Entertainer Awards a month earlier. Their first Japanese EP since the rebrand, i-dle, reached number three on Oricon in October 2025, and the digital single “Mono” with British rapper Skaiwater followed in January 2026. The ninth Korean EP We Made, led by “Gimme Dat Love”, came out on 6 July 2026, while the fourth world tour, Syncopation, opened at the KSPO Dome in Seoul on 21 and 22 February 2026.
