STAYC (스테이씨), an acronym for "Star to a Young Culture", is a six-member South Korean girl group formed by producer duo Black Eyed Pilseung at High Up Entertainment, the label Black Eyed Pilseung co-founded with CJ E&M in 2017. Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon and J were revealed one by one through prologue films between September and October 2020, and the group debuted on November 12, 2020 with the single album Star to a Young Culture and its lead single "So Bad". Black Eyed Pilseung described the group's sound as "Teen Fresh", built around each member's distinct vocal colour; Sieun had already worked as a child actress and Sumin, Isa and Seeun had all trained at other agencies before High Up.

The single albums Staydom (2021) and We Need Love (2022) and the EPs Stereotype and Young-Luv.com kept up a steady run of comebacks: Stereotype gave STAYC its first music show win in September 2021, and Young-Luv.com became the group's first number-one album on the Circle Album Chart. STAYC made its Japanese debut with the single "Poppy" in November 2022, and the single album Teddy Bear (February 2023) became the group's first release to top the Korean albums chart outright. The EP Teenfresh (August 2023) was followed by the group's first world tour, also called Teenfresh, which ran from September 2023 to March 2024, and then by STAYC's first studio album, Metamorphic (July 2024), led by the single "Cheeky Icy Thang".
Sumin served as STAYC's founding leader from debut until 2023, when Sieun and Seeun took over as co-leaders for roughly a year. The digital single "...l" (October 2024) and the single albums S (March 2025) and I Want It (July 2025) carried the group into a second world tour, Stay Tuned, which began in April 2025, while Seeun and J released the subunit digital single "Over U, 안녕" that December. STAYC released its first Japanese studio album, Stay Alive, in February 2026, and returned to Korea with the single album 2:Love that June.
