Haewon joined JYP Entertainment through a 2017 open audition and was revealed as the sixth member of the pre-debut lineup in November 2021. Named the group's leader at debut, she has since built a parallel career as a television host, earning a Baeksang Arts Awards nomination for her work on the variety show Workdol.
