izna formed through Mnet's I-LAND 2: N/a, a project made with THEBLACKLABEL. The seven-member lineup was announced in July 2024, and the group debuted under WAKEONE on November 25 with the five-track EP N/a. Its songs included IZNA, TIMEBOMB and new recordings of music introduced during the survival show.

The 2025 releases SIGN and BEEP led into the second EP, Not Just Pretty, whose title track was Mamma Mia. Yoon Jiyoon left the group on August 19, 2025, following a health-related hiatus. Mai, Bang Jeemin, Koko, Ryu Sarang, Choi Jungeun and Jeong Saebi continued as a six-member lineup.
In June 2026, izna released the Korean EP SET THE TEMPO, led by METRONOME. Their first Japanese mini album, HANDLE WITH CARE, followed on September 2 through Sony Music Labels. It pairs DUMB HOT! and HEADACHE with Japanese versions of IZNA, SIGN and Mamma Mia.
