About Jennie

Jennie Kim moved from Korea to Auckland as a child and returned in 2010 to audition for YG Entertainment, where she was steered towards rapping as the only fluent English speaker among the trainees. She was the first Blackpink member to be revealed, in June 2016, and the first to release solo music, with “Solo” in 2018. Since founding Odd Atelier in 2023 and signing with Columbia Records she has released the million-selling album Ruby (2025) and the EP Fallen Angel (2026).

    An only child, born in Seongnam; she has said she was born in Bundang rather than the Cheongdam-dong that was initially reported.

    Moved to New Zealand at nine and attended Waikowhai Intermediate School and ACG Parnell College in Auckland.

    Returned to Seoul in 2010 and passed the YG audition singing Rihanna’s “Take a Bow”.
