Chenyu, born Zhu Chenyu in Shanghai in 2008, is the youngest member of A2O MAY. Her deep, low voice is her trademark: she opens "B.B.B (Bigger Badder Better)" and handles most of the group's rap parts. Her solo cover of "Someone You Loved" was released as a performance video in January 2025 and later included on PAPARAZZI ARRIVE.

A2O MAY is the first group launched by A2O Entertainment, the Singapore-based company led by SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo-man, which went public as an agency in 2024; its sound is branded "Zalpha Pop", music for Generation Z and Generation Alpha. The five members, Kat, Miche, Shijie, Quchang and Chenyu, were introduced between October 25 and November 1, 2024 as trainees of the A2O Rookies HTG team. Three of them are from mainland China, while the twins Kat and Miche are Chinese-American and were born in Hawaii. The name evokes May flowers in bloom, and the agency presents the five as messengers announcing a new generation. The group debuted on December 20, 2024 with "Under My Skin (A2O)", issued in English and Chinese versions: a remake of the song Lee had adapted for TVXQ as "Mirotic", chosen after the members covered it in front of him.

The English and Chinese single "BOSS" followed in April 2025 and spent several weeks on the US Mediabase Top 40 radio chart; in May the group performed at iHeartRadio's KIIS FM Wango Tango in Los Angeles. "B.B.B (Bigger Badder Better)", recorded with three trainees from A2O's LTG team, came out in August and reached No. 1 on QQ Music's daily new-song chart, and the fandom name MAYnia was announced that summer. On September 24, 2025 the group won the newcomer-group prize at the Weibo Music Awards in Beijing. Their first EP, PAPARAZZI ARRIVE, arrived on October 24, 2025 with fourteen tracks: the title song and the earlier singles in both languages, the twins' duet "SWEAT", the trio song "MELODY" and solo tracks by Chenyu, Quchang and Shijie. The title track shared first place with Justin Bieber on Mediabase's weekly "Most Added" chart, and the group reached the top ten of Billboard's Emerging Artists chart.
A2O MAY closed 2025 with a Jingle Ball pre-show stage in New York and its first fan meeting, MAYnia Arrive, in Shanghai, and added newcomer prizes at Weibo's Competition Night in November 2025 and the Music Business Industry Awards in January 2026. The single "Love Got Me Ooh", a new jack swing song released on July 17, 2026 with the piano ballad "Rain On My Parade", topped QQ Music's new-song chart, and in August 2026 the group appeared on Korean music shows for the first time. A new single, "BAD HABITS TONITE", was scheduled for October 18, 2026.
